Angelo Aversa: Views of the Charles River

Faneuil Library Art Gallery

419 Faneuil St. (Oak Sq.) in Brighton

May 7 – June 2, 2012

Opening reception – May 8, 2012

For many years, Angelo Aversa has been creating outdoor plein air oil paintings of grand urban and historic settings and structures in Allston and Brighton.   This exhibition focused on his paintings related to the beauty  and magic of the historic Charles River.

Angelo Aversa has resided in Allston, Massachusetts for over 30 years and attended New England School of Art and Design.  For many years, he was a drummer for local bands, including “The Phantoms”, which performed in numerous nightclubs and on local television.  He has also designed record jackets, posters and flyers for many rock bands. He is a member of the Allston Arts District and participates in their annual Open Studio and is a member of the Watertown Art Association.  While on vacation in Rockport one summer, he fell in love with painting oils on canvas.  His favorite motifs and subjects, in the realism tradition with some impressionism, include landscapes, historic dwellings, and contemporary street scenes. He exhibits his artworks in many group shows in the greater Boston area and he strives to create artistic expressions of what is present in our daily lives and is all around us.
