There is a delicate balance we aspire to when constructing a quixotic community. In assembling, we can’t help but affect each other, for better and for worse. A piece of art that stands alone can be evaluated essentially, and perhaps, this strengthens the work. However, the meaning we derive from ample comparison can enrich understanding and allow for complexities we did not foresee. We strive for diverse communities, especially in urban settings, because we know it to be true that distinct voices, cultures, and ways of being, fortify our daily lives and our understanding of our place in this expansive world. The works in this exhibition bring together unique perspectives and styles from all over the greater Boston area, reflecting the nuances throughout our rich, and ever-evolving community. This exhibition brings together works that represent community through metaphor and symbols, and actual depictions of communities dear to the artists in the exhibition.
