Artist Statement for Temptation of the Mind and Spirit:
This work explores the experiential qualities of abstract organic form. The process begins with a feeling or a gesture that I strive to translate into sculptural forms. The Concretions Series sculptures allude to an organic and human maturation that conveys both strength and vulnerability. In Gape, I created an organic species with an aperture in their centers, an opening that could read as a mouth or an eye.
