Pauline Lim: Why Can’t It Last Forever?
Athan’s Café Art Gallery, Brighton
January 8 – March 4, 2014
Unbound Visual Arts, the new non-profit incorporated and based in Allston-Brighton to enliven the creative economy for artists and art supporters, is very pleased to announce the opening of Pauline Lim: Why Can’t It Last Forever? at the Athan’s Café Art Gallery in Brighton. This exhibition of oil, acrylic, mosaics and mixed-media paintings capture the leisure side of timeless living and the sweetness and abundance of life. Pauline’s paintings of eloquent café table settings with scrumptious pastries are especially relaxing and carefree. She also has many real and imagined moments of luxury that are shared with others or enjoyed alone. Some of the artworks “look somewhat cartoonish while still retaining their earnestness.” She combines her calligraphy with her realistic paintings to create strong messages about life’s small pleasures and comforts as well as the some occasional nuisances. A public reception with the artist is Sunday February 9 from 6:00-7:30 pm. The exhibition. curated by John Quatrale, runs from January 8, 2014 through March 2, 2014 and is open daily from 8:00 am – 10:00 pm.
