April, 2021 – Stay tuned for the opening of the new Lookout at St. Gabriel’s Art Exhibition Gallery near St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. It will be Brighton’s first designated, dedicated, enclosed, secure, and managed gallery for local art. The gallery is included in the redevelopment of the St. Gabriel’s site for 660 units of housing, the historic rehabilitation of two historic structures, and 4 acres of public open space. The developer is Cabot, Cabot & Forbes.

October 24, 2020, 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Live virtual art auction to benefit mental health, Unbound Visual Arts is a co-sponsor of this auction. This highly anticipated event will bring together world-renowned visual artists, leading scientists and thousands of mental health research supporters. Important conversations will take place, gorgeous artwork will find new homes and thousands of dollars will be raised to benefit such a timely cause amidst a mind-crushing pandemic. April 30, 2020, 7:00 pm. UVA’s 1st Happy Art Hour on Zoom. Everyone is invited to attend and participate in a fun-packed very casual Happy Art Hour to brighten everyone’s evening while we’re all at home. Get your favorite snack, beverage (Thirsty Thursday), and log in via Zoom on your computer, tablet or phone. Several artists will make 5 minute presentations (like an open mic) showing current artwork, including art in process. To generate discussion, members will present their ideas, inspiration, how art is helping during this crisis, or the story of how and when it was created. Members can present anything creative, including paintings, photographs, collages, textiles, ceramics, writings, poems, and even a favorite dish from the kitchen. Everyone will be invited to give feedback and comments.

Friday, February 21, 2020, 7:30 – 10:30 pm – UVA’s 8th annual Mardi Gras Celebration and Art Sale at the Stockyard Restaurant, Tavern Room, 135 Market St, Brighton, MA across the street from WGBH headquarters at One Guest St. As UVA’s main fundraiser, this awesome and fun event for people that love local art features a seven piece Mardi Gras Band, catered light refreshments, dancing, full cash bar, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and a special art show. Free beads and masks. Costumes optional.

Flatbread will make a donation to UVA based on its pizza sales for the evening starting at 4pm. Free street parking on Guest St. and near the Boston Landing Rail Station. MBTA Bus 64 and Boston Landing rail stop. Validated $5 garage parking too behind the building.

July 31-Aug. 21, 2019 – The Waste Land on Earth?. An Unbound Visual Arts exhibition at Harvard University’s Crossings Gallery. The Waste Land on Earth? explores the impacts of a culture built on a constant cycle of consumption on landscapes and communities. 24 artists respond in different ways to a world shaped by this disposable mindset. The Exhibition Program and Reception is August 8th from 5-8 pm.

March 8 – April 29, 2019 – UVA’s 3rd annual Women’s History Month exhibition at the Honan-Allston Library Art Gallery in Allston, MA, entitled Peace in Her Time: Visionary Women Against War and Violence corresponds to the national theme of “Visionary Women: Champions of Peace & Nonviolence.” An opening program and reception with artists, curator, live music, refreshments, and more on Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 1:00 – 4:30 pm.
May 4, 2019, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm – The 3rd Unbound Visual Arts Expo and City Heart Show at the Prudential Center inside the Huntington Arcade, located between Center Court and the Prudential Center Green Line Station. It is also located adjacent to Barnes & Noble and the South Garden. This premier event showcases and sells UVA member artists’ work and includes live music by local musicians, a community art-making project, art demonstrations, and other fun activities. The annual City Heart Show includes artists who have experience homelessness.

October 13, 2018, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm – The Unbound Visual Arts Expo at the new AllBright Arts Crawl at Unbound Visual Arts’ Headquarters at 320 Washington Street in historic Brighton Center will be both indoors and outdoors, rain or shine. UVA will join Brighton Main Streets, Allston Village Main Streets, and Allston Open Art Studios to present this weekend of art selling and showing, music and special events. This family friendly weekend will connect Allston and Brighton through pedicabs, bikes, & self-directed walking/biking tours. There will be installations and pop up shows in local businesses and other locations for artists, musicians, and performers, as well as art making and art demonstrations. Artists can apply here.

May 7, 2018 – 6:00 pm, (Monday) Hunneman Hall at the Brookline Village Library, 361 Washington Street, Brookline Commission for the Arts reception for its 2018 grant recipients. For the 2nd consecutive year, UVA was a recipient.
March 20, 2018, Tuesday, 6:00 – 8:00 pm – Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture and the Boston Cultural Council 2018 Boston Cultural Council Organizational Grants Reception at the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building, 2300 Washington St., Roxbury, MA for 181 Boston arts organizations and projects that will receive BCC grants, totaling $472,955. These funds support innovative arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences programming. The goal is to enhance the quality of life in our City. For the 4th consecutive year, UVA is a recipient.
