September 1, 2022, 3:00 – 4:30 pm, Thursday, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley visited UVA’s Arthaus Gallery for a meet and greet.

June 3 – July 17, 2022 – Invisible Disabilities-In Person, curated by Samantha Joyce.  This is a followup to the 2021 virtual exhibit of the same title.  UVA’s Arthaus Gallery, 43 N. Beacon St., Allston, MA. Opening Program and reception:  Thursday, June 9th, 2022.

June 23, 2022, 7:00 pm – Interactive reading and discussion led by Monica McAlpine, author of Winter Bride, her newly published poetic memoir about her mother’s Parkinson’s Disease. Issues of visibility and invisibility concerning the afflicted and their caregivers will be addressed.

April 3 – May 27, 2022  – Emerging from Refuge, curated by Karen Smigliani, at UVA’s Arthaus Gallery, 43 N. Beacon St., Allston, MA.  Opening Reception: Sunday April 10th.  Final Program & Reception: May 27th

September 2021 – Stay tuned for the opening of the new Arthaus Art Exhibit Gallery at 37 North Beacon St., Allston at the corner of Everett St near Boston Landing.  It will be Allston’s first designated, dedicated, enclosed, secure, and managed gallery for local art.  The gallery is included in a new 81 unit rental and condominium project.  There will also be 9 affordable artist live/work rental units. The developer is the Mount Vernon Company.

Lewis. The presentation is about the intersecting lives of women in Massachusetts and beyond who have changed the course of history.

September 3 – November 30, 2020 – Momentary Spaces, featuring the artwork of four 2020 Summer volunteers with Unbound Visual Arts. The Artists:  Sofija Chroneos, Rachel Hargreaves, Julia Marcantonio, Cynthia Bryndis Schilling .  This exhibition dives into the concept of the temporary and the current.

July 24 – October 30, 2020 – New Narratives: Reclaiming Asian Identity Through Story,  Curated by Leslie Anne Condon, UVA Virtual Gallery, Opening Program: July 24, 2020, with an artist roundtable discussion led by the curator and an open mic storytelling.  August 14, 2020  “The Power of Storytelling within our Asian Communities” roundtable discussion.

October 24, 2020, 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Live virtual art auction to benefit mental health, Unbound Visual Arts is a co-sponsor of this auction. This highly anticipated event will bring together world-renowned visual artists, leading scientists and thousands of mental health research supporters. Important conversations will take place, gorgeous artwork will find new homes and thousands of dollars will be raised to benefit such a timely cause amidst a mind-crushing pandemic. November 11, 2020, 6:00 – 7:00 pm – Meet the Artists in Momentary Spaces.

May 21, 2020, 7:00 pm – Opening program for UVA’s 1st Virtual Exhibition, WELLNESS: Art for Physical and Emotional Healing.

April 30, 2020, 7:00 pm.  UVA’s 1st Happy Art Hour on Zoom. Everyone is invited to attend and participate in a fun-packed very casual Happy Art Hour to brighten everyone’s evening while we’re all at home.  Get your favorite snack, beverage (Thirsty Thursday), and log in via Zoom on your computer, tablet or phone.  Several artists will make 5 minute presentations (like an open mic) showing current artwork, including art in process.  To generate discussion, members will present their ideas, inspiration, how art is helping during this crisis, or the story of how and when it was created.  Members can present anything creative, including paintings, photographs, collages, textiles, ceramics, writings, poems, and even a favorite dish from the kitchen. Everyone will be invited to give feedback and comments.

Tuesday, January 14, 2020, 6:00- 8:00 pm –  Liberman-Miller Lecture Hall, Women’s Studies Research Center, Brandeis University, 515 South St., Waltham, MA. “Nowhere To Call Home: The tale of a Tibetan migrant worker in Beijing.”  This powerful film is presented by GaIDI (Gender and International Development Initiatives) of Brandeis University’s WSRC (Women’s Studies Research Center).  Sponsored by GaIDI (Gender and International Development Initiatives) of the Women’s Studies Research Center/Brandeis University, and co-sponsored by the UNESCO/UNITWIN Network on Gender, Culture & People-Centered Development at Boston University Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program, and by Unbound Visual Arts, Inc.

July 31-Aug. 21, 2019 –  The Waste Land on Earth?.  An Unbound Visual Arts exhibition at Harvard University’s Crossings Gallery.  The Waste Land on Earth? explores the impacts of a culture built on a constant cycle of consumption on landscapes and communities. 24 artists respond in different ways to a world shaped by this disposable mindset. The Exhibition Program and Reception is August 8th from 5-8 pm.

August 7, 2019, 3:00 – 7:00 pm – Unbound Visual Arts at the Brighton Farmers Market, Brighton Common, 30 Chestnut Hill Ave., Brighton. UVA will have a table to discuss its exhibitions and plans for the future. Join us.

Friday, March 1, 2019, 6:00 – 10:00 pm – UVA’s 7th annual Mardi Gras & Carnival Celebration of the Arts at the Green Briar Restaurant in historic Brighton Center.  As UVA’s main fundraiser, this awesome and fun event for people that love local art features a seven piece Mardi Gras Band, A Confederacy of Dumpsters, catered light refreshments, dancing, full cash bar, silent auction, 50/50 raffle,  and a special art show.  Costumes optional but encouraged.

2018 accomplishments

Tuesday, November 27, 2018 – Unbound Visual Arts participated in the annual Giving Tuesday to encourage everyone to contribute to non-profits.  Donations can be made at UnboundVisualArts.org/donate

October 9 – 27, 2018 – UVA’s exhibition Wellness: Art for Physical and Emotional Healing, at the Wedeman Art Gallery in the Yamawaki Art & Cultural Center at Lasell College, 47 Myrtle Ave, Newton (Auburndale), MA. The exhibition wine reception with the fourteen artists, live music, refreshments,  and short artist talks is Saturday, October 20^th from 6:00-8:00 pm.

October 26, 2018 – Unbound Visual Arts was a participating organization for #ArtsMatterDay in Massachusetts, sponsored by Mass Creative.

October 29, 2018, 6:15 – 8:00 pm – Unbound Visual Arts is participating in Making a Difference Volunteer Fair at the Sisters of the St. Joseph’s of Boston, 637 Cambridge Street, Brighton, MA

October 13, 2018, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm – The Unbound Visual Arts Expo at the new AllBright Arts Crawl at Unbound Visual Arts’ Headquarters at 320 Washington Street in historic Brighton Center will be both indoors and outdoors, rain or shine. UVA will join Brighton Main Streets, Allston Village Main Streets, and Allston Open Art Studios to present this weekend of art selling and showing, music and special events.  This family friendly weekend will connect Allston and Brighton through pedicabs, bikes, & self-directed walking/biking tours. There will be installations and pop up shows in local businesses and other locations for artists, musicians, and performers, as well as art making and art demonstrations.   Artists can apply here.

June 13, 2018 – UVA launched the campaign for an Allston-Brighton Arts Center.

May 30 – July 1, 2018 – UVA’s Lesley University Alumnae Exhibition at the Marran Gallery, Cambridge, MA. The Gallery is located in the Student Center at 34 Mellen St., Cambridge MA 02138. Reception is Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.

June 5, 2018, Tuesday, 5:00 pm – 11:00 pm – UVA fundraiser at Flatbread Pizza, 76 Guest St., Brighton, MA at Boston Landing near New Balance. Flatbread will make a donation to UVA based on its pizza sales for the day. Come for great pizza with organic ingredients and candlepin bowling (small balls and skinny pins) and support UVA’s local art of the present at the same time. Free street parking on Guest St. and near the Boston Landing Rail Station.  MBTA Bus 64 and Boston Landing rail stop. Validated $5 garage parking too.

May 6, 2018 – 11:00 am – 7:00 pm (Sunday) – 2nd annual Unbound Visual Arts Art Expo inside the Prudential Center featuring UVA artists.  This is an official ArtWeek event.  Artist registration and more information here.

May 7, 2018 –  6:00 pm, (Monday) Hunneman Hall at the Brookline Village Library, 361 Washington Street,  Brookline Commission for the Arts reception for its 2018 grant recipients. For the 2nd consecutive year, UVA was a recipient.

March 20, 2018, Tuesday, 6:00 – 8:00 pm –  Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture and the Boston Cultural Council 2018 Boston Cultural Council Organizational Grants Reception at the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building, 2300 Washington St., Roxbury, MA for 181 Boston arts organizations and projects that will receive BCC grants, totaling $472,955. These funds support innovative arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences programming. The goal is to enhance the quality of life in our City. For the 4th consecutive year, UVA is a recipient.

March 10, 2018, Saturday, 1:00 – 4:30 pm – Opening reception for UVA’s newest exhibition, Battle of the Sexes Revisited: The Sexual Harassment Volley of Today, opens at the Honan-Allston Library Art Gallery. Live music, short artist and curator talks, and refreshments.  Exhibition runs through April 27, 2018.
