Louise Bonar, a Founding Member of Unbound Visual Arts and published poet, is an experienced management consultant, educator and community activist. She is a former member of the Board of Directors of Allston-Brighton Community Development Corporation and the Brighton-Allston Historical Society & Heritage Museum and a former staff person for Brighton Main Streets. She was also a founding member of the then Brighton Historical Society in 1968. In addition, she was an original member of the now defunct Allston-Brighton Arts Council in the 1980’s. In 2013, she organized UVA’s first poetry event with Monica McApline and Ellen Zellner, Poems Among Paintings, in which 13 poets, including the then Poet Laurette of Boston Sam Cornish, participated. This event was held amidst two of UVA’s exhibitions at the Harvard Ed Portal galleries. In 2015, she was on the planning committee that organized the Tribute to Sam Cornish at the end of his term. This event with music, poetry and theater was co-sponsored by UVA, the City of Boston and the Harvard Ed Portal and attracted over 100 guests. She also curated Monica McApline: Waterscape Edges at the Faneuil Library Art Gallery.
